The Top Adjustable Bed Frame: Amerisleep
Amerisleep – 4.5/5
Great health benefits and prices that makes sense! This was the top ranking brand overall. Amerisleep offers one adjustable bed: their signature Amerisleep Adjustable Bed. Reviews averaged at 4.8/5, on over 95 reviews.
The website publishes their prices online and costs are in line with features. Features like massage and custom positions led many consumers to report health benefits, and the Amerisleep Adjustable Bed has good technical specifications. Modern features like USB ports, a remote stand and under-bed lighting raise it above some of the more clinical looking brands as well.
The Amerisleep Adjustable Bed provides a 20-year limited warranty, keeping customers adequately covered. The first year covers parts and labor and then next two years cover parts only. The remaining years cover the steel and mechanical base parts found to be defective.

Adjustable Bed Brand Comparison
The Scoring Process
We looked five main dimensions in our rating system: customer reviews, durability features, price, health-related features, and warranty. Each item was ranked on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being highest.
- Consumer Ratings – analysis of third-party reviews via manufacturer and retailer websites, blog, and other review sources.
- Price – comparison of features versus retail prices. Brands that publish prices ranked higher, as brands which do not publish prices may tend to price gouge, overcharge consumers and subject them to high-pressure tactics.
- Health Benefits – analysis of features and consumer reports of benefits. These include relief from symptoms of sleep apnea, edema, acid reflux, breathing difficulties, snoring, fibromyalgia, muscle pain, back/shoulder/neck pain and others. Beds with more position functions tended to rank higher here.
- Durability – analysis of construction details (electronics, mechanical parts, materials) and longevity reports from consumers. Those with quality control certifications like UL listing and ISO-9001 certification ranked higher.
- Warranty – comparison of warranty length, with greater focus placed on full coverage terms. 20 year and even lifetime warranties are fairly common, but critical components like the electrical parts and motors may only have 1-5 years coverage. Brands with the longer full warranties and most transparent policies ranked highest.
The Other Adjustable Bed Brands of Note
#2) Tempurpedic – 3.9/5
Tempurpedic features three primary adjustable beds under the Tempur-Ergo name, the Premiere, the Plus and the Grand. They came in third, ranking in the middle of the offerings. Customer ratings averaged 4.5/5, and they also received 4’s for durability and health benefits. Both of the bases have a range of features and performance specifications.
Points were lost on price for costs higher than average compared to features. Tempurpedic is well-known as a result of their extensive advertising. Publicity costs money and typically results in higher product prices for customers.
Warranties are fair with the Tempurpedic adjustable bed lines. The Premiere and Grand come with 5-year full coverage and lifetime limited warranty. With the Plus, the warranty is 3-years full coverage with an additional 2-year warranty on parts only. The frame of the Plus has a 25 year limited warranty running concurrently.
#3) Costco – 3.5/5
Costco carries two different models, the Leggett and Platt S-Cape and a base from the Sleep Science brand. On average, we found customer ratings to be in the 4.0/5 range and reporting a good level of health benefits, with a good range of basic features available in both models.
Warranty terms varied across the models, with some offering more transparency than others. Full coverage periods are 1 year and parts range from 2-5 years. Customers also like Costco’s liberal return policy.
Price, especially on the mattress adjustable packages, comes in on the high side, though Costco publishes all prices online. Be aware that non-members pay a 5% surcharge above the listed price.
#4) Sleep Comfort – 3.2/5
Sleep Comfort ranked second, with pros including good ratings for warranty, health benefits and durability. On their website, Sleep Comfort offers their brand’s Classic model and the Leggett and Platt brand’s Brio 20 and Prodigy. Their beds received an average of 4.0/5 stars in reviews.
The factor that most affected their ratings appeared to be price, as they do not publish retail prices. This encourages price gouging and sales people taking advantage of customers who do not negotiate. Their lower-end models, the Brio 20 and the Classic B24 also seem limited on features, and warranty details prove vague.
#5) Golden Rest -2.8/5
Golden Rest offers five lines of adjustable beds with multiple models in each line: Supernal, Companion, Floor Hugger, Night Rider and Valiant. Within each line are different models with varying attributes.
They scored in average ranges on all aspects we looked, with 3.0/5 in every category. Ratings seem mixed as many people found health benefits in the beds, but limited longevity and higher prices held negative effects. The more industrial/clinical look of the bases can also be unpleasing to some buyers.
Goldenrest’s warranty coverage last 1 year for adjustable beds, average for full coverage but far below average for prorated coverage, which typically extends around 20 years.
Recap: Adjustable Bed Base Reviews
The biggest influences in our adjustable bed comparison and people’s reviews appear to be transparency and value. Consumers want to get what they are expecting based on salespeople’s and brand’s claims. Those that offer little information or are not fully transparent on pricing and warranties ranked lower in consumer rating and our comparison, with good reason.
Getting the Best Deal
It goes without saying the most people desire to get a good price relative to the features and durability of their adjustable bed. With the rise of the internet, buyers can now easily compare pricing and features, so those brands offering better values are faring better than brands sticking to outdated models with high markups and high-pressure sales.
Increasingly, people are also preferring bases with designs more reminiscent of furniture than hospital care. Who can blame them? Some models look like something out of an old hospital. The top-rated bases in our comparison look much more modern, with upholstered sides and concealed support beams. Most also function within wood frames or with headboards and footboards, so they keep affect the aesthetics of bedroom decor.
Keep your budget in mind when shopping for an adjustable bed. You can invest in your health without going broke. Set your budget and stick to your guns. There are plenty of good deals out there. Retailers often have huge discounts near holidays. If you don’t see a bed you like in your budget, wait until the next big sale and take another look.
Remember that adjustable beds are often covered by Medicare and medical insurance providers. Talk to your provider about getting an adjustable bed and follow their instructions to make sure you comply. Here is what Medicare’s own website says about it:
Medicare will only cover your durable medical equipment (DME) if your doctors and DME suppliers are enrolled in Medicare. Doctors and suppliers have to meet strict standards to enroll and stay enrolled in Medicare. If your doctors or suppliers aren’t enrolled, Medicare won’t pay the claims submitted by them. It’s also important to ask your suppliers if they participate in Medicare before you get DME. If suppliers are participating suppliers, they must accept assignment. If suppliers are enrolled in Medicare but aren’t “participating,” they may choose not to accept assignment. If suppliers don’t accept assignment, there’s no limit on the amount they can charge you.
If you some or all of your adjustable bed costs proves eligible, the small amount of trouble may save you significantly. Find out if your situation will allow for it. If not, don’t be discouraged, there are many adjustables available at a variety of different prices.
Don’t Forget the Mattress
In this review, we didn’t discuss mattress components, but they can be quite important to overall satisfaction as well. Most bases pair with a mattress of your choosing, though a couple brands make them attached. Make sure the mattress you pick works on your model of adjustable bed base, as some like spring beds may not bend as you adjust the angles of the head and foot. Ask the retailer if your mattress and base are compatible.
In summary, the top adjustable bed brands according to our research offer greater transparency in policies and costs, eye-pleasing designs, the ability to choose your own mattress, and higher levels of quality and features compared to their prices.
